Teeth

Teeth, also known as dentes, are solid, mineralized structures in the human mouth that play an essential role in the digestive process and in speech.
The human dentition consists of different types of teeth, including incisors, canines, molars and wisdom teeth, each of which has specific functions in chewing and grinding food.

Teeth consist of several layers, including the enamel, the dentin and the pulp.
The enamel is the outermost layer and consists of minerals that protect the tooth from external influences.
The dentin forms the main mass of the tooth and contains dentin tubules that lead to the pulp, which contains nerve and blood vessels.
The root of the tooth is the part of the tooth that is anchored in the jawbone.

Dental health is of great importance as it affects not only the ability to eat and digest food, but also general well-being and quality of life.
It is therefore advisable to take dental care seriously and to consult a dentist if any problems arise in order to avoid possible complications.

The targeted supply of healthy cell components could serve to promote the structure and function of the teeth.

Diseases and symptoms

  • Periodontal diseases: These include gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and periodontitis (inflammation of the periodontium), which can lead to tooth loss if left untreated.

  • Bleeding gums: A symptom that can indicate various problems, including gingivitis or vitamin deficiency.

  • Tooth sensitivity: Sensitive teeth react painfully to hot, cold, sweet or sour foods and drinks.

Care and maintenance of health

  • Regular visits to the dentist: Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and professional dental cleanings.
This helps to detect and treat problems at an early stage.

  • Good oral hygiene: Follow a consistent oral hygiene routine, including brushing your teeth thoroughly at least twice a day and using dental floss to remove plaque and food debris.

  • Balanced diet: A balanced diet rich in fruit, vegetables, lean protein and dairy products contributes to the health of teeth and gums.

  • Avoid harmful habits: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of dental problems.
These habits should be avoided or reduced.

  • Protection against injuries: When participating in sports activities, wear a mouth guard to prevent dental injuries.
Avoid opening objects with your teeth to prevent fractures.
